Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital (CCRH) is uniquely poised to radically transform patient care, delivering hope and better health outcomes for millions of people across the globe. The vision for this ground-breaking hospital has been in the works for over a decade, and now it is becoming a reality.
Work to create the specialist cancer research hospital for the East of England is incredibly exciting, and there are hundreds of people involved, from architects and engineers, to NHS staff and patients. It will be situated on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, a hub of innovation, and will bring together clinical expertise with world-class scientists. Research will be brought from the bench to the bedside.
A lot of thought has gone into the design of CCRH to make the building feel less like a hospital and more like a welcoming and calm space, with artwork playing an important part in this. The building itself will be spread over seven storeys and will include 77 individual inpatient rooms, along with a significantly expanded outpatient department and larger day patient unit. It will also include a Teenage & Young Adult Ward as well as three world-class research institutes.
